Operation Begin

The next day we didn’t set up our stall at open market instead went to town.

Camillo says* 「doing business for two days and doing something else for one day is nothing to be suspicious about」* so, I guess we're okay in that area.

Today a little after morning we explore one suspicious location.

We left the carriage with the innkeeper and the three of us go down the street. As I thought when I came here on the first day, there are as many different races here as in the Kingdom.

Some are beast men, some are giants, some are dwarves. Elves are not here either because they lack the magical power essential for life.

What makes the city a little different from the kingdom is the prominence of the giant tribe.

「Unlike the other side, there are many Titans.」

I asked Camillo.

「Yeah, the Titans were the original inhabitants of the empire. There are many inconveniences in traveling long distances, and most of them are in the Empire.」

「I see.」

I don't know if humans came to the giant tribe or vice versa, but I guess it means that they have been living together in harmony (?) since they joined hands during the great war 600 years ago as an example.

If you look carefully at the stall, you will see that in addition to the prices for humans there are also prices for the Titans.

If they need more supplies to match their size, it's not hard to see why they are unsuitable for expeditions.

「What are the chances of them participating in "that?"」

「I'm sure there's a lot of that going on. They are part of the empire. They don't treat them any differently than they treat humans.」

「If that happened, all hell would break loose.」

「It's a big part of the force. ......」

Needless to say, if the weapon is large enough to fit the body of a Titan tribe, it is a threat enough to be wielded.

If they joined the revolution, they would be almost as much a threat as siege weapons. One can only imagine the fear of the defenders at that time.

Conversely, the confusion in that case would be great making it easier to escape taking advantage if it occurred during a rescue.

「The place is just up ahead, isn't it?」

Mr. Franz stopped. It is a little outside of town but not so much on the edge as on the outskirts.

「It’s closer to the centre than I thought you'd be.」

I say and Camillo replies.

「That's because it's more conspicuous to carry them around the perimeter, If we're going to transport them one of these days, we want a place that's a little bit off the beaten path where we can quickly get away from the crowds.」

「That's convenient for us, too.」

「That's right.」

The entrance is a little secluded and not clearly visible. However, it would be completely suspicious if we peeked in too much, and it would inconvenient us for them to remember my face.

We walked to back alley of the warehouse.

Another warehouse stands directly behind the desired location. There seems to be an opening between the two, but it’s not possible to penetrate directly behind the desired location. Stone warehouses line both ends of the road, as if they form another barrier. A few other people were passing us on the street, so we blended in and passed in front of them.

「It's tough when you can't see inside, of course.」

After going quite a bit too far, Camillo spills the beans.

「It's a warehouse. I wish I could at least hear how things are going from somewhere. No sewers or anything? 」

「It's there, but there's no reason to pass it under the warehouse, you know. ......」

Franz answered my question. This means that if they were there, they would not be able to use the means to escape from the sewers. You won’t need an escape route to keep people prisoner.

「I don't know what to do.」

Camillo ponders as he walks away.

「I have an idea.」

Saying this, I approached Camillo.
